Two New Restaurants Coming to Gateway Plaza

York is looking forward to this summer when Gateway Plaza will welcome two fantastic restaurants to an already stellar tenant line-up.

One of these restaurants is The Fiction Kitchen, which offers thoughtfully sourced vegan fare. Everything on their menu is vegan, and they also serve a variety of gluten free, soy free, and nut free options. This location will stand in addition to their well-established restaurant on S. Dawson Street in Downtown Raleigh.

The second restaurant is Mala Pata Molino, which will serve Latin American cuisine and feature fresh heirloom corn masa ground in-house daily. Peyote, opening in tandem with Mala Pata Molino, will be a late-night ghost bar and market stall serving to-go drinks, desserts, and bulk items such as fresh tortillas and tamales.

York is proud to provide property management and leasing services at Gateway Plaza Raleigh.

Meet Our People

From the town of Bunn, where she lives, to the Oak City and beyond, our Corporate Accountant, Rachel Vorys, is a shining leader. Born just south of Buffalo, NY, Rachel moved to Raleigh, NC, with her family at the age of 6 and has stayed near the Triangle area ever since.

Rachel and her husband of 21 years, Tom, live with their two children – Thomas (22) and Lily (18) – and one granddaughter – Maelynn (3). On any given weekend, you can find Rachel wandering around Chris’ Green House, finding new plants to put in her garden, and perusing the treasures at SuzAnna’s Antiques in Rolesville. She enjoys local eats with her family at the Farmer’s Kitchen or Levi’s Soul Café, but her favorite thing to do is go to Clifton Pond to hike, meditate, or paddle board around the ponds and streams.

Before joining York, Rachel had experience with bookkeeping and accounts payables and receivables for a local real estate firm. She says that what feels like 10 minutes has now become 10 years at York. During that time, Rachel has had many different titles and has become the go-to person for all accounting needs. We consider her the “fixer of things” and “sorter-outer of messes.”

In 2022, Rachel was selected to participate in Leadership Raleigh, a program designed to prepare and connect community leaders and business professionals in the Triangle. As part of the Leadership Raleigh program, she and a group of peers are currently working with the non-profit SAFEchild, whose mission and purpose is to end abuse and neglect for children and families.

While Rachel might not have just one saying or motto, when you chat with her, you are bound to hear something that will make your day brighter. Her pleasant and joyous personality brings smiles and laughs to all the York team.

Thank you, Rachel, for all you do! We are so proud to call you our own!

Two Roosters Ice Cream Opens New Location in Wake Forest

Wake Forest is in for a (frozen) treat!

Two Roosters Ice Cream will open their fifth location in the Triangle at The Factory Sports Complex (former Slices & Ices space) early this summer. Located at 1839 S. Main Street, Wake Forest.

If you can’t wait until summer, we hear you. Check out Two Roosters’ “Brownie Series” of ice creams at any of the other Triangle locations right now! Our flavor recommendation is Nutella Brownie.

Two Roosters Ice Cream is a family-owned business that originated from Sunday gatherings at the owners’ grandmother’s piedmont farmhouse in North Carolina. The family would get together on Sundays each summer to rest, share stories, and hand-churn ice cream. What was once a family tradition has now blossomed into the successful business Two Roosters Ice Cream is today.

York is pleased to provide property management and leasing services at The Factory. Broker James Troxler represented the Landlord in the transaction.

Meet Our People

North Carolina native Stuart Fuller is a treasure to our York Maintenance team.

Born in Henderson, Stuart’s family lived in Benson and Louisburg before making Raleigh their home. He graduated from Millbrook High School in 1982.

Stuart worked with another local real estate firm for almost two decades before joining York Maintenance. He came to our team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and now serves as the head locksmith of the Maintenance division. Stuart takes joy in the variety of his daily workload. He gives his full self to his work which his team members can attest to.

When Stuart isn’t rekeying or repairing locks, you can find him at home with his wife of 31 years, Jackie Fuller. They have two sons together, Johnny and Nicholas.

Stuart also loves deep sea fishing. His catches include a 29lb Almaco Jack, 26lb King Mackerel, and a 21lb Cobia, but one of his favorite catches was a Triggerfish – a tender white fish perfect for grilling.

The family atmosphere and good relationships are just a few things that Stuart says he appreciates most about working with York. When asked about a life motto, Stuart said that honesty is very important and to “always treat people the way you want to be treated.”

Thank you, Stuart, for your years of commitment and dedication to our clients and the York Maintenance family.

RUS Hosts Partner Appreciation Reception for Congressman David Price

Raleigh Union Station (RUS) was proud to host a Partner Appreciation Reception for U.S. House Representative David Price to honor both him and his supporters over the past 35 years.

Congressman Price served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. He has represented North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District since 1997 and will be leaving office on January 3 after announcing his decision not to seek re-election.

The event had a turnout of 250 guests who had the opportunity to shake Congressman Price’s hand. Guests included Governor Roy Cooper, Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin, and former President of the University of North Carolina system, Thomas Ross.

Speeches by Congressman David Price, Governor Roy Cooper, and Thomas Ross were all given during the event. Guests enjoyed appetizers from Catering by Design and drinks from On My Way Bartending. It was a lovely event that York is delighted Raleigh Union Station had the pleasure of hosting.

Sunday with Santa at Raleigh Union Station

Raleigh Union Station was pleased to host Santa this past weekend! The event had a great turnout of about 65 people. Guests were able to meet and take pictures with Santa, purchase hot chocolate, and explore Raleigh Union Station. Many of them visited the observation deck to watch the trains come in!

This is Raleigh Union Station’s first time hosting a Sunday with Santa event and they plan on doing it again next year, bigger and better! They are hoping to bring in more vendors in the future, as well.

Raleigh Union Station hosted this event in hopes of helping residents of the Triangle become more familiar with their venue and all they do. Raleigh Union Station is a public space where people can work, watch the trains, bring friends to have lunch, or book an event!
