York Rings in the New Year with First Night Raleigh

Parker and George York are proud to serve as the honorary chairs of the 2022 First Night Raleigh celebration in Downtown Raleigh!

First Night Raleigh is the party of the year as Raleigh comes together to celebrate the end of a prosperous 2022 and kick off 2023 in style. Parker and George have been longtime supporters and participants in the First Night Raleigh celebration, as well as advocates for the host organization Artsplosure.

Artsplosure is a nonprofit arts and cultural event production studio in Raleigh that is committed to enriching and inspiring the community through visual and performing arts. Artsplosure works to achieve this by producing accessible events for artists and the Raleigh community alike.

First Night Raleigh brings together representation from many of Raleigh’s local arts community in a fun and festive family event. The festivities begin in the afternoon on December 31 and continue late into the night for attendees to watch the Raleigh Acorn Drop and a fireworks show when the clock strikes midnight. Other activities include a parade, silent disco, an interactive projection exhibit, a pop-up skate park, and more!

Parker and George are honored to have been selected as this year’s honorary chairs and they look forward to celebrating with our amazing community.

RUS Hosts Partner Appreciation Reception for Congressman David Price

Raleigh Union Station (RUS) was proud to host a Partner Appreciation Reception for U.S. House Representative David Price to honor both him and his supporters over the past 35 years.

Congressman Price served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1995. He has represented North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District since 1997 and will be leaving office on January 3 after announcing his decision not to seek re-election.

The event had a turnout of 250 guests who had the opportunity to shake Congressman Price’s hand. Guests included Governor Roy Cooper, Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin, and former President of the University of North Carolina system, Thomas Ross.

Speeches by Congressman David Price, Governor Roy Cooper, and Thomas Ross were all given during the event. Guests enjoyed appetizers from Catering by Design and drinks from On My Way Bartending. It was a lovely event that York is delighted Raleigh Union Station had the pleasure of hosting.

Sunday with Santa at Raleigh Union Station

Raleigh Union Station was pleased to host Santa this past weekend! The event had a great turnout of about 65 people. Guests were able to meet and take pictures with Santa, purchase hot chocolate, and explore Raleigh Union Station. Many of them visited the observation deck to watch the trains come in!

This is Raleigh Union Station’s first time hosting a Sunday with Santa event and they plan on doing it again next year, bigger and better! They are hoping to bring in more vendors in the future, as well.

Raleigh Union Station hosted this event in hopes of helping residents of the Triangle become more familiar with their venue and all they do. Raleigh Union Station is a public space where people can work, watch the trains, bring friends to have lunch, or book an event!

Meet Our People

Marketing Specialist, Vicky Eaton, is a Raleigh native with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from North Carolina A&T State University.

After graduating from A&T, she spent the next year and a half as a Hostess/Server at the former 18 Seaboard on Peace Street. It was there, while waiting on a table for one of our employees, that Vicky was (unknowingly) earmarked as someone who had exactly the type of personality we were looking for to fill a position within our Marketing department.

As it turned out, she was interested in the opportunity and a few weeks later, she was onboarded as an assistant to our marketing team. Fast-forward 3 years and Vicky is now a Marketing Specialist supporting her own team of four commercial brokers in our office. She is a North Carolina Notary Public and is responsible for our internal company newsletter. Vicky is also a board member for the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation (HSCSC) and Concept Factory.

If you ask her, Vicky will tell you that her passion in life is media and story-telling. She is a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer. She volunteers her time doing videography for Victorious Praise Fellowship Church in Durham. Vicky loves her family – Mom and two brothers (one of them is her twin) – and spends as much time as she can traveling, visiting extended family and friends, shopping, and dining her way through the City of Oaks. As she likes to say, “Life is too short for bland food.”

When asked about her job, Vicky says, “In addition to the work-life balance and amazing, vibrant coworkers, my favorite part of the job is the creative problem-solving element. I enjoy seeing puzzle pieces become a work of art. I enjoy helping others bring things to life and it is a privilege to do so with such an amazing team of people surrounding me daily. My team of brokers bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and connections to the table which makes supporting and learning from them all the more valuable and intriguing.”

Meet Our People

North Carolina native Julie Price is a staple here at York.  She was working in an Administrative Assistant role at Lyston Farmer & Associates when the firm was purchased by York in 2000.  Since that time, Julie has been a major part of York’s Association Management division, supporting the property managers with her full dedication.

Outside of the office, Julie loves to read and spend time with her children and husband.  She says she doesn’t like to cook; however, her youngest loves to cook with her and she really enjoys that.

She is a Board Member for her HOA and volunteers with the Durant Road Middle School PTA because she believes schools and parents should always work together in the best interest of children.

When asked about her work life Julie says, “My favorite part is talking to homeowners and helping them solve issues. Well…that and enjoying laughs with my cubicle mate, Beth. I love working for York. It really is like family here. I’ve always felt appreciated & needed. I just want to do the best job I can do and be the best person I can be.”

Thanks, Julie.  We love you too!

Raising Funds through Live Music

York is excited to once again sponsor Band Together!

In response to the tragedies of September 11, 2001, the founders of Band Together wanted to create a positive change and impact in the community. Since then, Band Together has used the power of live music to donate over $10 million to Triangle area nonprofit organizations. The organization began by raising funds to support international tragedies and now raises funds and awareness with a nonprofit partner each year. This year’s mission is to support housing accessibility in the Triangle.
